Update of our website

Maybe you've already noticed when visiting our website looks that it look different than before. We carefully updated certain pages and functions to give you a better experience when using Mercado de Previsões.

Let's start with the overview page of a category: Most visible the colour of the current category is now repeated throughout the page. One example is the border around the highlight question boxes.
Also colourful is the "order by"-bar. We changed the default sorting to the closing date of the questions and made the page numbers more visible. Furthermore we cleaned the table listing all the questions from some visual clutter.

Maybe even more noticeable are all changes for the page of a single question. First of all we kicked out the colour grey and all those boxes to give these pages a cleaner look. Then we gave all these sub-headlines the same size and colour, so your visual experience is more calm.
Then you will now find under the additional information about question all the tags assigned to a question. By clicking one of these tags more questions with the same tag or topic can be easily found.

Additional to the before mentioned visible changes there have been also some invisible enhancements:

  • Our search has been improved to search more accurate and also for the tags of a question
  • Some buttons all over the page have so-called hover effects. For example the "apostar" one on a question page gets a greyish background when you move the mouse over it. This effect had been created with a JavaScript whose job is to change the picture of the button for another one. We are starting to replace this approach by one known as CSS slicing. In this new approach both states of a button (or even multiple ones) are stored in one big image. In short this big file is than used as the background of the button and moved according to the desired state. The advantage is that the user doesn't need to load two files and we can get rid of some JavaScript code.
  • If you log in on the page of a question or a category, you won't go back to the start page anymore. This way you can easily first surf for a question and log in without the hassle to remember the exact address or how to get there.
We hope you like these changes and look forward to hear your feedback and suggestions!
